Tower Poppies

Picked up a new lens yesterday – the Nikon 16-35 f4 – and took it down to see the poppies installation at the Tower of London “Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red“.  The crowds were enormous, but it was still very moving.  It’s hard to get a sense of the sheer scale of this installation, but then I suppose that’s part of the point: it’s hard to get a sense of the scale of WWI.  Remember – every poppy marks the unique story of a life lost.

Processing these, I went for selective colour to keep the focus on the poppies, but I thought it also added an appropriately sombre tone to the scene.
